Event Description: This course provides the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to collect, handle, and store field collected seeds responsibly. Learn every step of the process, from scouting for seeds in the field to ensuring proper processing and storage, while emphasizing ethical and sustainable seed collecting practices through presentations, activities, and hands-on demonstrations in Mt. Cuba Center’s gardens and natural lands. This workshop is ideal for professionals in the fields of conservation, restoration, horticulture, and native plant production, as well as plant enthusiasts who wish to learn about native seed collection practices. Dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and wear sturdy shoes for hiking on steep paths and uneven terrain. Lunch included.
