PLNA Foundation Scholarship Purpose

To enhance the relationship between students and the landscape and nursery industry, the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association Foundation recognizes the effort of outstanding students of horticulture, nursery production, landscape contracting, or a strongly related field.

Funding

Students enrolled in any Pennsylvania accredited colleges and universities offering horticulture nursery production, landscape contracting, or a strongly related field, OR Pennsylvania residents enrolled in out-of-state accredited institutions offering horticulture nursery production, landscape contracting, or a strongly related field, are eligible to apply for a PLNA Foundation Scholarship. Individual scholarship awards may vary, and individual scholarships may total up to $5,000.

Scholarship recipients receive a cash award in the form of a check payable to both the student and their school as co-payees. The scholarship may be applied to tuition, books, or educational supplies. It is the responsibility of the student to provide the check to their school's bursar for application to their tuition balance.

PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship recipients will be required to return to the PLNA Foundation a W-4 form verifying the recipient's social security number and mailing address. In January 2024, each recipient will receive an IRS form 1099 MISC reporting the amount of the scholarship received in 2023 from the PLNA Foundation. PLNA Foundation is a private foundation and is required by IRS regulations to submit 1099 MISC reporting for all recipients as these scholarships are taxable income. Additional information can be found on the IRS website.
