PLNA Foundation Scholarship Requirements & Application

Individual Eligibility Requirements

The candidates must major in horticulture or a related field and must meet the following criteria:

The student is in the second year of study in a two-year program; or is in the junior or senior year if enrolled in a four-year program.
The student has a 3.0 major grade point average and at least a 2.5 overall cumulative average.
The student has excelled in special projects or activities demonstrating ability to apply knowledge gained to real life or on-the job situations.
The student’s personality and willingness to continue in the nursery industry are positive factors.

IMPORTANT: The PLNA Foundation Board of Trustees will select scholarships recipients on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Previous PLNA Foundation scholarship recipients may apply but should understand that award priority will be given to students who have not yet received a PLNA Foundation scholarship. Scholarship opportunities are also open to Pennsylvania residents enrolled at out-of-state horticulture institutions/programs.

Process

Application Deadline: MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2025 @ 5:00 pm

Students are directed to submit the applications to the designated department chair for each school. The Foundation Board of Trustees requests that the department chair select the applications that should be submitted for review. More than one application per school may be submitted.

Please note: It is not guaranteed that all submissions will be awarded a scholarship. All selected applications must be submitted to the Foundation by the deadline. Upon receipt and approval, the Trustees will review the applications and a letter will be sent to the student(s) notifying them of the award. This letter will also serve as notification to the college's bursar's office that this educational support is coming.

The monetary awards will be issued before December 31.
