The Fredrick J. Mummert Award was awarded to Daniel Eichenlaub at PLNA's 120th Anniversary Celebration & Education Summit.

Dan graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, and from Carnegie Mellon University's Entrepreneurial Management Program in 1995. Over the past four decades, Dan has been a founding principal of multiple successful green industry businesses, including AgRecycle; LandOpt, LLC; US Green Holdings, LLC; and Eichenlaub, Inc. in 2023, Dan facilitated the creation of Perennial Services Group, a rollup of green industry businesses, and is a current PSG board member.

Dan has been a PLNA member for many decades and is a past PLNA board member and board chair, a past PLNA Foundation trustee and board chair, and is a longtime PLNA Government Relations Committee member and current chair.

As PLNA Foundation Chair, Dan most notably facilitated the creation of 30 online training modules, a partnership between PLNA and Penn State Extension, that is intended to support employee training and workforce development.

As a PLNA Government Relations Committee member, Dan testified before the US Senate Judiciary Committee regarding H2B workers, which resulted in the returning worker exemption. He has also worked closely government on such issues as home improvement contracting, sales tax on landscape services, fertilizer and soil legislation and amendments, and the modification of DEP drought regulations.

Additionally, Dan represents the green industry as a longtime delegate and past president of the Penn State Ag Council, and current board member of the Penn State College of Ag Sciences Advisory Board.

PLNA Board Member Ted Ventre shares: "In the early days of building one of the most respected industry brands in the Pittsburgh area with his brothers Tom and Paul, Dan recognized that people come first, and that success only comes if you engage, and support, others to help you. It is this recognition that motivates Dan to engage with people to realize results.

If you’ve had the good fortune to talk with Dan, you know that his passion for our industry is deep, and his energy is seemingly boundless. Dan’s voice represents all of us at the local, state, and national level where he tirelessly pushes for the implementation and improvement of workforce development and educational programs through his strong ties to the Penn State University system and the Extension Office.

Dan is a leader, advocating for our industry with legislators in Harrisburg and Washington D.C., and working with regulators at the PA Department of Environmental Protection and the PA Department of Agriculture to ensure that legislation and subsequent enforcement, make sense for our environment and our industry.

Dan’s vision of the green industry as a sustainable resource for our communities, and as a place of unlimited opportunity for employees, is one that we can all share in and be proud of. But be warned- when you talk with Dan, and you should, you will come away energized by his passion… and with a to-do list and timetable!"

Congratulations Dan!
