Third Generation of 100 year member, Root's Nurseries, Inc., Passes

J. Clyde Root, 87, of Landis Homes, formerly of Manheim, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at his residence. He was the husband of LaVerne (Shenk) Root and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past February. Born in Hempfield Twp., he was the son of the late Clyde K. and Mary (Harnish) Root.

Working with plants in the outdoors was Clyde's delight. He was the owner of Root's Nurseries, Inc. Manheim, until his partial retirement. He represented the 3rd generation in the business which was founded in 1895 by his Grandfather, a charter member of PLNA. In 1992 he turned that responsibility over to his sons, Dave and Dwight. He never worked anywhere else, spending his entire career at Roots Nurseries, Inc.
