Ten PLNA members participated in a Penn State University
project at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in the Fall of 2013 to design and install
a landscape component of the larger project incorporating sustainable landscape
techniques, plants and products. This
GridSTAR project offers many opportunities to showcase stormwater BMPs through rain gardens and
bio-infiltration, rain barrels, downspout direction and capture, downspout
planter box, rainwater reuse, pervious / porous paving systems, native plants
and alternative lawn meadows.
A
combined panel discussion and site tour is being offered at PANTS14 on July
30. Many of the participating members
will be on hand to offer their insight on the project and how they implement
their products and services into sustainable landscapes.
