HARRISBURG - PLNA members who have checked their tax assessment
records and found that their high tunnels were being taxed are now receiving
refunds from their counties, some into many thousands of dollars.
Some counties had begun to tax high tunnels but two
PLNA-backed laws that were signed by Governor Corbett in December clarify that
high tunnels are not subject to real
estate taxes.
If you have high tunnels, hoop houses or poly houses, check
your county tax assessment records to be sure you are not being taxed on them.
Most counties now have their assessment records online, so they are fairly easy
to check.
If you find that your high tunnels are being taxed, call
PLNA for assistance in helping your county understand the new laws. Call or email Gregg Robertson
